Hi There,
I really need some help with my Virgin Media. Below is the summary of events
1. I took Virgin Media broadband in Jan 2021 - 18 month deal (ending 25th July and full price thereafter)
2. I added TV option in August 2021- that extended my contract till Feb 2023. However, the tv service was not great for us and I returned it within the cooling period.
3. After i returned the TV, I had the final update to my contract on September 2021 - showing me lower price than my original deal (Jan 2021) but contract till Feb 2023.
Six months ago, i was told by the agent on the phone that i am on my original contract of £24pm and I was ok with it because it was the original contract. However, now on 25th July 2022, my bill changed to £44 (as per original contract) and when I called Virgin to cancel my account, they are telling me I am contracted till Feb 2023 and my discount has expired so I need to pay full price for the remaining duration. It looks like they are applying what's best for them.
I have been calling them for past three days to no avail. They only tell me that they can change my contract to £35. On my side, I am quite happy to stay for the remaining duration if they honour the price as per the original contract.
I have raised a complaint on their online form.
So, appreciate any help on this. I think the contract amended by the agent on September 2021 was a mistake as it gave me even a lower price than original. I did not ask for it either and was happy paying as per the original contract. But, now Virgin is using the end date from this amended contract but pricing as per the original contract.

I would have thought if you got rid of tv during the cooling off period you would have gone back to the original contract to July 2022, so should be out of contract now. If you have a contract that has a price that you’re happy with and it says the end date of Feb 2023, I can’t see how they can argue against that. It literally is there in black and white (and a bit of red). They can’t have it both ways.0

Can't you just stop the direct debit? I'm sure you won't be the first0

Awful awful advice. This does not cancel the contract, will involve debt collectors and a very tarnnished credit file.
