The downsides are that both cars will be leased rather than owned outright, which ties us into doing this long term. Previously we’ve owned our cars. Certainly I can see the advantage of leasing with insurance and maintenance all included.
You are not really committing to do this long term, only for the period of the current lease agreement.  Once that expires, if the maths don't work, you can then go back to buying a car and keeping it as long as you choose.  Given that will be three years away, I doubt by then you'd even consider the idea to return to ICE.
I understand that. It would mean starting again with buying 2 cars from scratch, whereas currently we generally buy nearly new and keep for 6-8 years and don’t change both within a short time.

I wouldn't rely on those car parks continuing to provide 'free' charging.
I still don’t understand who pays for them and why they would do so.

A lot of people find that with an EV and an ICE they end up using the EV most of the time anyway.  If you need to use both cars simultaneously then it makes sense to have 2 EVs. If one of them doesn't need a huge range then you can probably get a smaller 2nd EV.

Another thing to factor in with leasing is that you'll get capital back on your current cars, to spend/invest how you want.

The site or business owner pays, because it attracts customers who buy goods/services.  It's like offering free parking, click and collect and so on.

At some point, not having EV chargers will really hurt businesses in the same way that not having trolleys does.

We’ve recently replaced OH’s car with a Tesla 3. It’s on a company lease, as the BIK made it a no brainer. We have the option to get a second car on the same scheme, but that means we are totally electric.

    Is this too risky?

Downsides are that both cars will be leased, both linked to the price of electricity. At the moment electricity is cheaper, but that could change.
    absolutely no.
!!!!!!, you already have one. take one long trip over weekend and see how it works out.

you rarely drive more than 4 hours non stop anyway. charging is basically on almost every corner now.  where's the problem?
    I own an EV. AMA
