Just echoes of Thatcher and selling council houses or more HTB then? She can`t make the banks lend though, isn`t that why they used taxpayers money for HTB?Woolsery said:

Is there a link to what she said?Woolsery said:Liz Truss is currently promising to make mortgages much easier to come by, so I expect there will be a new scheme along soon and the milk and honey will flow again. (Which one is the very doubtful smiley? This one?

No. Schemes are unrelated despite the similarly helpful names![Deleted User] said:Does this affect the HTB ISA?

How will they keep high without HTB? Are SKY news etc covering this, you would think it was a reasonably big story.chanz4 said:

Builders dont like lower prices, as lowers the value of the land they are buying. Yes may cut down the amount sold as a lot wont be able to afford them after but cant see a drop thats for sure.Sarah1Mitty2 said:

Builders are working on schemes to replace HTB. 'Deposit Unlock', for example.
There is still a chronic lack of housing supply in the UK so don't expect too many price reductions in the newbuild sector.I am a mortgage broker. Only two lenders have signed up to Deposit Unlock though, help to buy was the government lending the money directly, I think the builders will need something bigger than that to keep selling.kingstreet said:Builders are working on schemes to replace HTB. 'Deposit Unlock', for example.
