Vodaphone Broadband

I'm just wondering why Vodaphone did a hard search of my credit file when I applied for their full fibre broadband? 

I probably did agree to this in T&C but I would have thought they'd do a soft search.

Will this stay on my file for 2 years? 
My score is (was) excellent and this is bugging me because I've just spent 10 years dragging my husband and myself out of the financial gutter.

    It's not uncommon.

    Don't worry your excellent score. It may well plummet but it has no impact in the real world. A single search is nothing to be concerned about.

    Quite a few utility and service providers run hard searches now - it's one of things we can't avoid. Having a couple of searches from service providers is different to having a couple of searches from credit card providers though. Not something to worry about in the grand scheme of life.
