Posting ceramics

No money involved (other than the postage cost), we want to send some crockery to a family friend.  We know extremely good packaging and double boxing is required.

My question is, which is more likely to get it there intact, is there any difference between Royal Mail and Parcelforce?

We'd rather not post, to be honest, but family member seems willing to take the risk *shrug*  [No sentimental value, just she needs crockery and we have some that needs a new home.]

I post a lot of China and glass and always just use Royal Mail 2nd class parcels.

My preferred choice is always Royal Mail 2nd class parcels as well.  Well padded and boxed of course.

RM is good for individual items but other carriers will be better for sending several items at once.  It has to be packed extremely well as it will be going uninsured, but DPD and the like are very cheap for large boxes weighing up to 20kg.

packaging it well in my opinion is worth a lot more that paying for insurance. I'd rather pay more to be able to send a bigger and heavier box, then just pack it like you expect it to be dropped.
