Recip Saw Blades for pallets

I've inherritted my Dad's cordless recip saw and I'm going to be using it to take apart some pallets. Can anyone recommend any decent saw blades. Can't decide which ones would work best. Thanks.

Tried crowbar and hammer before and ended up splitting the wood. Now I've got the recip saw I thought I'd give that ago. See if it makes a better job.

Finer blades ( more teeth per inch ) give a better cut ,if too course ( less teeth per inch ) will cut quicker but will be hard to handle.

I've used a recip to break pallets. There are a few of things to consider
    • Are you cutting the wood but not the nails? I would go for the cheapest short wood blades
    • If cutting nails you need blades suitable for metal and you need to ensure they are long enough to reach the nails
    • Are the pallets clean? Dirty pallets will reduce the life of the blade
    • I know it's not what you asked but I recommend a pallet buster. They are much quicker and, if you are careful you don't split very much wood.

Planning on going through the nails with the saw. Should I look for blades suitable for metal or wood and metal?

What are you taking the pallets apart for ??
Reuse of the timber or just for firewood??
I cut up around 250 -300 pallets a year for firewood.

What sort of finish are you hoping for?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Just need to get all the struts off the pallets in 1 piece. Don't mind if the nails are left in. I can get those out afterwards.
