hi, just new in the UK, not yet a full year too. didn't know i may need to pay for a TV licence from watching on youtube. I follow a basketball team back home and saw some of the team's live games on BT sports youtube channel. I watched maybe 3 games and now the season is over I don't watch on that channel anymore. should I still pay for that now I got a letter but probably would not again until next year? I am also thinking I will not watch a live game anymore and just watch a recap if I will only get to see less than 10 games in a year, not worth it. and if I should not pay should I register with them to say I won't watch any live TV anymore, and would that stop the letters I am receiving? cheers!

The letters are usually mass mailed in any event and go to properties they know don't have licences. It doesn't imply any guilt.

Yes, in theory, registering as not needing a Licence should stop the letters being sent for 2 years (less if you are a Student).
Bear in mind that TV Licensing is pretty much a national shame, and a lot of what they say in their letters isn't true, or at least isn't a fair explanation of the true situation. It's worth treating the letters and the organisation with caution.1 -
You don't need to pay a licence to watch youtube
You only need one if the things you watch on youtube are shown at the same time as they are broadcast.1
