Kitchen claim

We had a leak in our kitchen least September. The insurance sent out people to dry the house. Then the contractor came in January and removed the kitchen and asbestos to dry out the floor.
The contractor has said they will replace the kitchen +floor and some plastering etc then plus some extra bits(at our cost).
We then heard nothing but we were then told we could replace the kitchen.
We chose the kitchen and have now been waiting.
I have spoken to the contractor and emails who has said he can't buy the kitchen until he gets paid from another job, that has gone on for a few weeks.
Is this normal? Is there anything we can do?
Thanks

The insurance company is ultimately responsible and so delays and other issues should be raised to them.

!!!!!! - Sandtree banned? I have never seen him say a bad word to anyone. He is also one of the most knowledgeable in this section. Why is the board trying to get rid of so many helpful posters?I have spoken to the contractor and emails who has said he can't buy the kitchen until he gets paid from another job, that has gone on for a few weeks.oh dear. That sounds like cashflow problems. Make sure the job, when it is done, is done perfectly and corners are not cut.
