THTC without electric heating (not storage heaters)

Hi everyone,
I've seen a few posts about THTC meters being removed in the coming months due to the rollout of the smart meter system so if I am duplicating feel free to delete. I live in a flat in Aberdeen which has electric radiators that are not storage heaters, presumably replaced by the previous owner. I'm a little concerned that it looks like the options I will be offered are Economy 7 or Economy 10 as these tariffs would essentially be useless as I'm not going to heat my home over night if I'm not "storing" energy.
I've contacted SSE but I am yet to get any response from them. I'm just wondering if anyone know what options I will be given, or what a good move might be? It seems crazy to me that there are likely thousands of people in my position, and while prices are already escalating at an already alarming rate, those of us in this position will be dealt another blow in 2023.
I'm confused as to why more effort can't be put into allowing these tariffs to run on smart meters anyway? Failing that why would the government be pushing ahead with this when everyone is already facing spiralling costs? It just seems a very unfortunate time to be rolling ahead with this change.
Cheers,
Jack

This is a very good question which although not something that will affect a lot of the UK, it WILL disproportionately affect a large number of customers in more remote areas.

Thanks EssexHebridean! Yes to be honest I am only posting because I think it's a bit of an outrage. Though I do wonder if am missing something, though I suspect not considering the state of things currently. Thought I would post to see what others thought1

I was actually having a discussion with a friend yesterday about their energy costs on PAYG and sadly discovered they have THTC which is cheaper on PAYG than DD. Even more disturbed to find that SSE is removing support for this type of system from 2023 although it could be a good thing price wise (?) and remove the monopoly that SSE has. I haven't got a difinitive answer so I imagine the rollout will have to be delayed along with delaying the switch off of the RTS system.Keep an eye on this thread https://forum.ovoenergy.com/my-account-140/total-heating-with-total-control-thtc-ovo-sse-ending-support-in-march-2023-9242It's really shocking that people are stuck on the THTC tarrif with nowhere to go and a real nightmare ahead with the proposed changes. It seems to have not been thought out properly. No solutions appear to have been given. My friend is being charged 54.96p SC, 30.87p standard energy and 22.82p heating energy and unfortunately no cap on this tarrif.I didn't see any posts on the removal of support for THTC - do you have links to them please?

SSE has not made it easy to contact their "Electric Heating Team" as it is not a specific number, so I imagine if you call you will speak to some cluless person that has no knowledge of THTC meter changes...but happy to hear from anyone that has done a successful change as I know my friend will find this a nightmare to sort out as they don't understand the THTC system at all.

I will try get through to them on the phone at some point to see what the options are. I have done a calculation using current average prices per kwh in North Scotland at home and I do think I'm looking at a fair increase over the winter if I switch to single-rate. (This is using my current prices also, not comparing with last year as we are all facing a fair increase over winter, obviously!)
Thanks for the link to the ovo page, will keep an eye on the thread :-)
Probably too much to hope that they delay this until prices come down (if/when, who knows!)0
