EDF Early Exit Fees

I'm currently on EDF's Welcome Variable tariff and I'm considering switching to their 2 year fixed Total Long-Term tariff. This is one of the fixed rate tariffs recommended by moneysavingexpert.com but it comes with a £300 early exit fee.
Having looked into this further, it's actually a £300 early exit fee for each fuel so £600 in total for gas and electricity.
Has anyone else come across this or switched under the impression it was only £300 for both gas and electricity?

I think you are mistaken.

Yes, that's where I saw the deal but when I asked EDF to clarify whether it was a £300 early exit fee for gas and electricity or a £300 fee for each, they confirmed it was for each fuel so a total early exit fee of £600 for gas and electricity. But they'd waive the early exit fees if you leave within the last 90 days of the contract.
It seems a lot for a 2 year contract when everything seems so uncertain.0 -
I'm not sure how to post screenshots but I've just checked my May EDF fix and it clearly states £150 per fuel. The important things in life are not things ........2

Is that for a fixed rate you took out in May for the coming 2 years or one that ended in May?0

This might have become mute now. EDF has withdrawn most fixed tariffs and replaced them with more expensive ones.
Check if the offer you are considering is still available, and if so take it and continue to consider during your cool off.0 -

Yip, it's gone. Can't say I was thrilled at being tied in for 2 years with hefty exit fees anyway. I'll keep a close eye on the market and see what happens.pochase said:This might have become mute now. EDF has withdrawn most fixed tariffs and replaced them with more expensive ones.
