How long did it take for everyone to get their draft contracts after their offer was accepted?
And if you're selling a house what documents do you need to provide to your solicitor in order for them to draw up the contract?

We didn’t actually get any until enquiries and searches were done so around 11 weeks in.
can’t remember all the documents I needed for my sale, solicitor sent me a list but I also sent her everything I had from when I bought the house originally1 -
We received our draft contracts to sign for our sale about 6 weeks into the chain being completed. We completed the paperwork the solicitor sent to us for both our sale and purchase, property form and ID and that was about it. With regards to our purchase, still waiting on one of the vendors to complete their property fittings and fixtures forms.... 8 weeks later....zzzzz1

It takes around 4 weeks to get signed up after instructing the solicitor, pass the ID and AML checks, put monies on account, fill in any paperwork and return.
If you're selling, your file needs to be opened, you need to sign and return all initial client paperwork, pass their ID and AML checks, pay monies on account for the solicitor to obtain title documents from Land Registry. The solicitor will send out the protocol forms - Fixtures & Contents, Property Information Form, Leasehold Property Information Form (if applicable) for the seller to complete and return. If the property is unregistered, then the seller will need to supply all the paper deeds to the solicitor. The seller will also need to provide guarantees/warranties and certificates for any work done to the property. Once the solicitor has all the paperwork to start the process they will draft the contract, scan in all the documents which they will forward by email to the buyers solicitor. Some solicitor still send paperwork by photocopying and the post, but most do it by email today.1
