Solicitor quote

Hi, I have asked a solicitor for a quote, and it is a solicitor a friend highly recommended. They are quoting what I think is a lot, and is more than my friend paid, when buying a more expensive complex property (which was however 2020). The quote is around £2500 minus stamp duty, incl searches and land registration fee etc.
Does that seem like a normal amount for current times? I haven’t got multiple quotes yet as it seemed best to go with someone highly recommended as I know some solicitors can be awful.
thanks!
thanks!

Sorry forgot to say - this is all in London0

Seems perfectly adequate. I think mine cost £2,300 last year.2006 LBM £28,000+ in debt.

Ok thanks! I wanted to ask here rather than bothering to contact lots of solicitors which I felt would take more time. If it seems a normal price, I will just go with them0

Mine is £1600 for sale and £1800 for purchase. I have no idea if that’s average or not though as we were recommended them by a friend for our first purchase and they were fab so used them twice again0

If they are highly recommended and very responsive, go with them rather than trying to save a few hundred pounds. This is one area where cheap is not usually good, especially when you consider how much money you are already spending on the purchase.2

Looks within the normal range to me. We are in London as well.

We are paying £2600 for a sale in Surrey and purchase in Oxfordshire. I had quotes going over £5000 so there are big variations. We are almost at exchange and happy with the service so far.0

My solicitors fees (Newcastle, fairly large practice) are roughly £900 for the sale conveyancing + £1600 for the purchase conveyancing.0

£1200-£1300 is going rate for purchase incl of VAT but excl. searches and other fees.
London based solicitors may charge higher fees but you don't have to use solicitors from where you live.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
