    can you say exactly how you paid and if credit card which type I.e. MasterCard, visa or Amex? (There is a difference).
    the credit card company are jointly liable so that’s a route you can go down without the costs of small claims.


    Thanks.  From memory it was Visa debit so I don't think I have that protection.   Probably ought to use credit cards for large purchases in future

    What might be a better calculation is, if you can, find out what the price of  2 year old iPad is - that is the value.

    Maybe eBay ?

    Yes it’s better protection.
    amex is better than most with better customer service and a shorter appeals timescale.

    there is some help on debit cards but your well part the time limit

    Did you purchase direct from Apple? One year retail warranty only. Next time, buy from JL and that will be a 2 year warranty. 
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
