New Architraves Fitted - Gap

I have just had some architraves fitted in our house and there is a gap between the architrave and the door frame.
I think the reason is because we had the house plastered before taking the old architraves off, a rookie error I know.
The quality of the work isn't the best I know however it's something I need to sort out and make it look better.
Would it be acceptable to caulk this gap?
Any ideas will be appreciated on how to make this look better.

Thanks

  • That’s awful workmanship, it looks like his has used gripfill and pins so taking them off isn’t an option I would caulk it let that dry and shrink then caulk again flatten it off with a wet filling knife or old chisel.
You could use filler but the gap looks quite big.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

Could you cover the gap with some quadrant moulding?
