Garage lighting advice

I would like to replace a single hanging bulb in my garage with 2 led strip lights either side of the current fixture.
The switch for the light is at the wrong end of the garage, up to now I've been using a b22 bulb with a built in motion detector which has worked well, however I need something brighter and more evenly lit.
Can I simply put a surface mount pattress box in place of the fitting, mount a PIR to that then wago connections to each light?

I don't see why not if the PIR really requires a box.Why Wago? Does the PIR not have screw terminals? And, I guess, the LED strips aren't 230V and need some transformer(s) or a low voltage power supply?0

The pir I have requires a pattress, the battens are 240, they're available on screwfix, I mentioned wago as they seem easier than chocbloc terminals.grumbler said:I don't see why not if the PIR really requires a box.Why Wago? Wago connectors are a pain in the butt - You have to strip just the right amount of insulation off the wire. Too much, and you end up with exposed copper. Too little, and the wire doesn't go in far enough. With chocbloc, you have a fair degree of latitude. In a surface mounted box, the terminal strip will be reasonably accessible should you ever need to tighten a screw or add extra cables.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
