Switching to SO Energy

Hi all,

Has anyone been able to switch to So Energy at all?

I contacted them via twitter initially to see if it was even a option as my Elec is with them and my Gas is now with EDF and wanted to move it to So Energy on a fixed tariff.  I was given the tariff info via twitter, looked over it for a day or two then said yes, all ok, lets start the process, it went to Registrations and then nothing.  I've since been on via twitter and now I get no reply after an initial "Registrations have a back log and they will get to it".

I've also phoned up and been told its been escalated, they have and can see my emails also detailing the tariff and meter info etc to help get the ball rolling (Figured this woudl be useful for them to enter int he required info) but still nothing...

Its now been over a month and the switch has not even started yet, no communication at all.  I've phoned up again this week and now have been told the Fix rate I agreed to is no longer available!  However, it will be down to registration team to decide if they put me on it as it was available when I agreed to switch, they just haven't actioned the switch.

Anyone else had similar issues, any advise on to get the switch started? I seem to be hitting a brick wall of "we will pass it over to Registrations as high priority" and then nothing and i wait another 5 days to see what happens and nothing...

I'm hoping they put me on the fix tariff I want but I have a feeling they will now say it is no longer available and that's it.

Thing is now, I don't want to switch to someone else in case so energy do suddenly start the switch process...  I understand they are all very busy with everyone wanting to switch or get on different tariffs but its been over a month now, surely they should of communicated something, even if just to say they cannot switch me to the desired tariff etc and what my options are.

Thanks

Kev

I agreed gas only switch very early March, So Energy started switch process 10.5 weeks later, they will honour fixed tariff that you agreed to, £30 automatic compensation for switches that are not completed within 15 working days.

Thanks, glad to hear they do eventually start the switch. I just need them to acknowledge it and start the switch and send me comms regarding it.... Weirdly the guy i spoke to said it usually takes 21 to complete but from Tuesday this week it will take 5.  I was very tempted to say I'd be happy to get confirmation the switch has started/in progress as I've not even had that so far.

I'm around 5 weeks in from when I sent my email, I had agreed it earlier via twitter but didn't get any comms so I sent a email to clarify what I wanted (and provide further info to assist in the process to speed it along like meter number etc) as I've already got Elec with them on a fix until March so didn't want them to move Elec to the tariff also, just move my gas from EDF to the tariff stated which is a 2 year fix as I figured at the time, I'd sooner know exactly what I'm paying for gas and if prices did come down next year, prob wont be much or if it is, then it'd be worth paying the exit fee.

So sounds like I'm only half way through the process atm lol.

Why do they take so long has there been any fixes
    worth taking with them im
now on the svr rate with them after coming off a
    fix gas only.
  • They take forever to do anything unless you chase them on Twitter. Their customer service has fallen off a cliff since the energy crisis took hold.

I contacted initially via twitter and was fine but since agreeing to move, apart from 1 query I've had, all further chases for updates has had no replies.  I've had one follow up email to advise sorry for delay after another email in early July chasing via email and it was being escalated, now I'm getting no where fast.  No replies to msgs on twitter, not sure if its even being monitored? No replies to emails, so my only choice to to call them and then basically go round the same thing of they escalating to registrations and then nothing...

Just wish they would start the switch and let me know the estimated date of switching so i know where I am and know its in process.. I thought it would be easy as I'm an existing customer for Elec so they can use all same details for setting up the gas, just different tariff is all. I emailed them meter info to try make it as easy to do as possible, hoping for a quick turn around..

Update: No update from So energy so contacted them today and been advised still a huge backlog of people, its been passed to someone specific queue (not a general queue) for them to look at and do the switch.  Hopefully I'll hear something this week or I'll have to chase them again next week.

Update - Got a email from existing supplier early hours this morning saying sorry your leaving us... No email from so energy but when I login to my so energy account, it shows the switch is in progress and they are requesting a meter reading and advising will be completed on 12th Sept. Lost count of how many weeks it has taken but I think its probably around 11 or 12 weeks but finally its going through :)  Going to provide a reading Sunday so its as close as can be before the actual switch happens.

Not sure on what the new unit rates/standing charge will be under the recently announced cap but I read fixed prices will be coming down too so will wait and see.  At least this way it will all be with one supplier so should make things easier, albeit different tariffs.
