How long is too long? Waiting on card to arrive

I applied and was approved for my first credit card, a Virgin Money 0% interest card, earlier this month. They said the card was on its way to me on the 6th July and would take 7-10 business days to arrive. It's now 14 business days, almost three full weeks, and still no sign of it. This seems to be an inordinate amount of time and I'm beginning to get a little worried. I wrote to them the other day and was advised to wait another few days. Has anyone else experienced long waits like this with Virgin, or other CCs?

  • Why not ring or message them and ask them?

What happened to other people is not going to make any different to how fast or slow your card arrives

I did, I had mentioned in my post that I messaged them and they had advised me to wait a few more days.

I know, but I was just curious and a little frustrated.

Bear in mind, this sort of thing is often not handled by the card company themselves.  They'll (often, not always) have an outsourced company who produce the cards and do the posting for them.  This time of year, they could have a lot of staff on holiday, so lead times may be longer.  Added to that, your local Royal Mail depot/sorting office may be short-staffed for the same reason (I know ours has been, mainly due to lots of posties being off with Covid).
So I wouldn't fret too much - there's probably a very simple explanation for it.  A tad annoying, maybe, but nothing to worry about.

I didn't realise that! That makes sense and has reassured me. Thank you @Ebe_Scrooge :)
