My son has had 2 vaccinations but no booster. His covid pass for travel says valid until 2023,but Europe insists the last dose was within 270 days, so its not valid from September. This is very confusing and I can see people travelling with a valid QR code, but bei g refused entry!

The expiry date on a UK document has nothing to do with the entry requirements of other countries, who can define their own policies, so having a UK pass that expires in 2023 is definitely not implying that this is sufficient to guarantee entry into other countries until then, as it can't take account of such locally-imposed rules.

The EU rules about unboosted vaccinations expiring after 270 days were introduced earlier this year and are still clearly referenced in the entry requirements pages on the FCO website, which is where potential travellers should check whether they're eligible to enter their planned destination.

Does your son have the option of getting the booster?

which countries are still asking for passes? I've recently travelled to Germany and Norway and didn't need to show any pass at any point (appreciate the situation is fluid and can change though)

    You can check https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

Some European countries still require it.- e.g. Spain , France, Netherlands

It’s not confusing at all - his pass meets the UK regulations but as mentioned not those for other countries.

As with passport and travel restrictions, each country has their own - so it’d be rather silly to rely on the UK document without checking the requirements of the destination country.
