iPad spreadsheet

hi

ive been on MSE for years but not used the techie bits

i am looking for a spreadsheet for my iPad.  I only need a basic one for our simple household accounts.  Preferably free.

I used Excel before I retired 10 years ago so not a total beginner.  There’s lots out there so I would like a recommendation.

Are you looking for a spreadsheet file with all the columns etc setup or are you looking for a spreadsheet application?

If the later then you have Google Sheets (free) or Apple Numbers (which I think is now free or at least is if you've bought any Apple device new in recent years). You can use the web version of Microsoft Excel for free too but not sure how well it works on an iPad.

You can use Numbers on iPad or indeed Excel

I got Excel from the iOS App Store years ago, when it was free. So, it shows up as free for me, now, but I am not sure whether it is still free? 

If it is free, and you are familiar with the program, it’s an obvious choice, really.

Numbers works well on an ipad or excel is free if yours is an ipad mini
