Funding IVF

Hello
It looks like we're going to have to self fund a round of IVF (it's actually ICSI for us).
For anyone who has been through this, how did you self fund?
We have a house and mortgage, which is about to be renewed and could take out about £15,000 of equity (although we'd add years rather than higher monthly cost), which would cover a good chunk of the cost but not sure whether a loan would be better.
For reference, MSE says I (and just me) could take a loan of £10,000 at 3.4% over 5 years, which means a monthly payment of £181. Our mortgage rate is at 2.4%.
Just not sure of our options as yet.
Still pretty raw about this.

My gut feeling is that the loan will be cheaper overall as its paid off quicker (and so less interest in total). Of course, that depends on your mortgage term you would be getting.
Having been through IVF (with ICSI), you have my deepest sympathies. Make sure you take any emotion out of any financial decisions, as hard as that may be. Set a limit on the number of tries you will have, as you don't want to bankrupt yourself, which will cause more stress, decreasing any chances you have further.
Apart from that, keep communicating as a couple about everything. This WILL put a strain on your relationship, so please talk to each other and support each other as much as possible.1 -
