idea for improving OS forum

owt is better than nowt as they say up north.
im not saying get rid of the stickies altogether, at the minute, we have managed to get it down to a concise few, but there are times where it spirals, and we seem to lose half te 1st page to the things.
on the bright side, whenever you are within a thread on OS when our new blue bar is up and running, the stickies will be just one click away, not negotiating your way back to the main page, then hunting the things down, navigating through menus, submenys etc before reaching your destination.. i know there is talk of streamlining the stickies, and i hope the blue bar will be a step in a positive direction in this...all in good time...and making the forum/board as a whole easier to navigate.
as i have said, and as others have pointed out, the blue bar is admittedly not the most eye catching part of the page. however, this does not seem to have been an issue for the other boards who use them, because if anyone posts (as i did), asking for info which is already fully documented, they point you in the direction of the blue bar. once there, you tend to explore, and discover all sorts of other useful stuff as well as the answers to your initial query.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

Just a thought p_d .... what setting have you got your "User CP - Edit Options - Number of Posts to show per page" .. set at?
I know the options are:-
Forum Default (? not sure how many)
5
10
20
30
40
I use the 40 setting, so the stickies, although present, still only take up a minimal amount of space = 5 = 5%
If you are seeing few threads/posts per page, it may be a simple case of using the "Edit Options" in your "User CP" so you get more per page and less "drops off" the page; does that make sense?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oopsie, am I repeating myself (LOL - we'll call it senile dementia, I'll probably qualify
)
:think:
What setting is your monitor on? Could that be it? Do you have your screen set at "large" text?(I am genuinely trying to be helpful, but methinks you would already have tried those routes ... best I give up! LOL
)
One thing I do know ... doing work as opposed to being here is *not* the way forward~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The number of posts per page shouldn't make any difference to your viewing on the front page of any of the boards, only means that per thread you will have less pages per thread if you change your settings to view 40.
However, drum roll please, along the top you will find an orange bar which says on it Posts are not monitored so please, etc etc.
On the far side of that you will find a blue double arrow, click on that and you loose a paragraph of writing which gives you more "viewing" space on the page.

Why not just have links in the blue bar to the two threads that squeaky has in his signature other than the Welcome one. IMHO once you've read the welcome thread you don't really need to look at it again unless you want to refer back to it however the other two I regularly go look for. If they were in the blue bar it would make it a whole lot simpler to scroll up the page and click a link. Just my honest opinion.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
