The accounts I got for my aunt's executry were a balance sheet  that listed the value of the  various items on the estate  and totalled.

A list of the expenses and then totalled.

Estate value less expenses leaving net  value

Schedule of distribution of net value.
  • I did my mum's final accounts in a spreadsheet but it was pretty basic and there was no reason why it couldn't have been done by hand - it would have barely covered a sheet of A4.  The information was just as @sheramber has outlined above. Final accounts done by a relative for a great aunt a couple of decades ago were handwritten and contained just the same details but in very lovely copperplate writing.

    Its called Inventory and account

The starting point is the inventory, a list of everything.

Then an asset or cash flow of where it goes

Sometime notes along side an asset help, sold, charity,  passed to beneficiary N, scrapped

the idea is to have everything accounted for one way or another.

    Bit late to this sorry.
You can keep the front sheet quite brief if you then on separate pages have a list of  assets and their estimated value (upvto you on how much detail you put).
Do the same with expenses, list date, narrative and amount.
Make this available to all beneficiaries.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
