Repair or Replace Washing Machine Samsung Eco bubble 8 kg

Options
Would appreciate some advice please. My 8.5 year old Samsung eco-bubble 8 kg washing machine stops during most washing cycles ( but not on the 15 minute quick wash) & continues to wash when I press the start button again. I have run the test & get the error code 3E2. Am wondering whether I should spend money on repair ( minimum call out is £70 and the parts are extra) or buy a new washing machine 🤔?

I think on your code 3e2 it means a motor issue, on my user manual. It says switch it off at mains, wait 1 minute then back on again and start a new program. So what it would cost i don't know but if you ask someone who repairs this you could get an estimate and go from there.

    Thank you elle_may & frugalmacdugal.
I have tried switching the machine off at the mains twice but that did not solve the issue.
The model number is WF80F5E5U4W/EU, but I am afraid I am not very good with DIY unless it’s very simple.

It's something that I would repair myself.
I certainly would not even consider paying a call out fee for an 8.5 year old machine.

I don't think I'd go for that particular call-out option anyway. But, a local 'appliance service engineer' might be a reasonable move, but it's all a gamble.
You could ask upfront how much to swap the brushes on that machine? Of course, it might not be the brushes, but that is usually the single most likely cause.
Looking at Samsung's list of error codes, there's a few to do with the motor, but not one of them suggests worn brushes, tho'...? Pretty sure that model does have brushes - that's what an eBay search suggests anyhoo.
LiF, if you cannot DIY these things, you are probably best putting the amount towards a new machine - we are surely talking £100 min for the agent you mentioned, possibly a LOT more, but also possibly less if using a local one-person band.
A gamble. If the machine has had light use (tho' the brushes wouldn't be worn in that case!), then it might be worth it. Might.
    Your call :-(

  • Hi,
    a quick search says this,

    Samsung washer error code: 3E2
This code indicates a motor driving error. To fix this error, you need to replace the motor PCB.

It probably won’t have brushes in the motor, as above, pcb unit or wiring fault,

My eco bubble started doing the same thing and it was infuriating as it’s in the garage so I would only check on it when it was due to be finished, only to find it had stopped and still had 2h left or so. It was also less than a year old, but it was error code 3C and as it was under warranty I had it repaired. As previously said, a new pcb was the answer.

The repair man (Samsung approved) said it was unusual to see that fault on that age of machine and it would be more common on machines about 5 years old ie just out of warranty. I took that to mean new pcbs are common in these machines as they get older.

    Hi

If it's going to cost a fair amount for callout, parts & repair I'd probably buy a new machine.

Personally I don't think they're built to last forever & you could very easily throw hundreds at it & still have an unreliable washing machine.

If you're good at DIY & can figure out what the problem is to know what needs replacing then worth trying.
