Electoral register - need complete year for Equifax?

I've recently sold my house and moved back in with family temporarily.

I updated the electoral roll - both Experian and Equifax have received the update via the council.

Equifax however has my credit score at poor - the dashboard has a red flag against electoral register and states "0 complete years on electoral register at current address".

Does this mean they expect me to be on the register a year at the address before my credit score will return to normal?

Admittedly I would only ever check Experian in the past, however my score has always been excellent.

Your credit score, as shown by Experian and Equifax, doesn't mean anything and will never be seen by any lender.

Equifax may take a year to increase it again, they may take a leaf out of Experian's book and offer to increase your instantly score for a price.

Lenders receive your credit history from these firms, they then apply their own rating system to it and make their own decisions based on that. Some lenders may care you've been on it less than a year, others may not if you've got constant history at previous property(s) and some just dont look at duration at all.

Your credit score isn't important. It has no relevance to lending decisions or anything else.

As long as you are showing on the ER and all your other data is correct, that's all that matters.

    Thanks for the speedy replies!

Fair enough if the score doesn't matter but something has happened - I previously got an agreement in principle online before moving whereas now it gets rejected.

I am showing as living at the new address - and the electoral roll corresponds with this. But it is still flagged red on Equifax.

A change of address can be interpreted as higher risk by some lenders, especially if that is very recent.

Just off the phone to the mortgage lender and Equifax.

The lender completed the agreement in principle questions and it came back rejected again. She said it could either be down to the lending criteria (but said it all seemed standard) or the credit agency file.

I then phoned Equifax - they said no issues with credit agreements, CCJs and searches. I am registered at the new address and the electoral role now corresponds. Her only suggestion was to wait or ask the lender for a "manual review" of credit report.

It's all a bit frustrating - I've moved in with family temporarily while the finances on the last property were resolved with my ex partner. Now that transaction is complete - I obviously wish to start looking at properties.

Does your chosen lender only search Equifax, or do they use others?  Have you checked all three files in details?

    Hi,
Not sure if this helps but I also have a red flag from Equifax as have recently moved and have only been on electoral register at new address for a few months but credit score overall still very good.

I don't know much about this stuff so apologies if this is too obvious but have you changed your address on all other accounts related to credit?
