What Small DFW Things Will You Do This Week 25/07/22

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Hi July Junk-repellers,I'll try and find more time to post in here. I'd be a shame for this thread to fade away.Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Eight:Checked online banking. Found a fraudulent transaction and spent two hours trying to convince the bank that it was fraud.Alarm clock off at the wall during day time.Turn off WiFi box when not using it.I've been taking a packed lunch to work all week instead of buying a microwave meal in Farmfoods to take in. I don't really have time to make packed lunches but I'm trying. Continue trying not to buy yummy but costly food and drink at work.We are going on holiday soon and the accommodation we have has no tea making facility so we will take the secondhand travel kettle we have in a cupboard somewhere and a couple of mugs etc with us instead of paying €10 for a week's hire when we arrive. We were going to buy travel mugs but they all seem to be made of metal or silicone and DW likes her tea in a porcelain mug so we may buy two from a charity shop to take with us. We don't want to risk damaging our precious mugs in transit.Deep cleaned my work Thermos with vinegar and bicarb.Continue crocheting blanket.Continue trying not to do the washing every day even though I work outdoors and I make a lot of washing.Make more homemade lollies by freezing squash in lolly moulds. They're not outstanding but they are cheap.Took a quick shower today as I hadn't been out at work getting covered in the great outdoors.Went to Superdrug for an off-the-shelf medication for DW. Delighted to see that it was available for £3.50 rather than £5. In the case of this ailment 'natural' remedies are not going to fix it. I would really encourage everyone to look for PL numbers on medications. You can read about them here in this article about cold remedies, but the principle is the same for ALL medications. Imagine you want to buy a brand name medication. Look on the packaging for that medication and find the PL number. Now look on the nearby shelves for similar, cheaper medications with the same PL number on the packaging. If the PL numbers match, it's the SAME drug. It's not SIMILAR, it's the SAME.

PS One other little win we've been making lately is to use a bucket to collect the cold water when we first switch on the shower and using a jug in the kitchen - some might think its a bit tight but our waterbutts are running low and I cant bear to be paying for water to go straight down the drain now we're on a meterGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75
