Big Yellow Storage Inventory

Thank you for all your suggestions - I know that there will be other options for storage facilities and for insurance, which may or may not be cheaper and/or require less detailed information but at this point in trying to sort out my mother’s estate I hope you will understand that I just don’t have the capacity to research and compare them all. Big Yellow is literally opposite my home and is therefore theoretically the ideal solution.
I wasn’t sure if I was overthinking the inventory requirement so was interested in whether anyone had completed one recently and, if so, how they approached it. I accept that insurance is a condition of storage, even though I am happy in the circumstances to do without it and would willingly sign a waiver, but find it hard to believe that anyone putting numerous boxes of general, low-value household possessions in storage can provide an accurate estimate of the cost of replacing everything as new.

Have you spoken to anybody at Big Yellow to explain the situation. If they are just over the road you should be able to speak to somebody at the local site. As you say, your situation will not be unique.
