My husband attended a TA reunion and one of the men mentioned about pensions but didn't know any details. So I thought I'd ask if they are entitled to a pension or anything else? My husband joined up in 1987 and left in 1996 and he was a Lance Corporal. My dad joined the TA's in 1963 and left in 1979.

"Prior to the introduction of Armed Forces Pension Scheme 15 (from April 2015), service in the Reserve Forces (TA or Regular Reserve) was not classed as reckonable for pension purposes unless the individual was mobilised whereupon the mobilised, service would count towards a pension".When the rules changed in 2015, they weren't made retrospective. Assuming that your dad and husband were part-time TA, then it's unlikely that they have any pensions due. The men at the reunion may have served in the regular Forces, before transferring to full/part time reserve posts, hence their pension rights.2

I always wondered why I was never awarded a pension for my 9 years in the TA. Thanks for bringing this subject up0
