Broken fridge freezer

Hi guys ,
Im just wondering if I could pick your wonderful knowledgeable brains,
I brought a new American fridge freezer in feb 2019 and today it has packed up , freezer full of food defrosted and the fridge doesn’t seem to be cold, now what I’m wondering is it came with a 2 year manufacture warranty and this is obviously out , but do I have a chance of going back to the retailer asking for help as to be honest I’d expect a new fridge freezer to last longer than 3 years ?
do you guys have any advice you could give me regarding this ,
many thanks for your help 😊

Think u will be lucky if they do any thing after the amount of time, I insure mine with Domestic and General for repairs,
Claim for food loss on home insurance.

You'll need an independent report showing it was inherently faulty and not failed through misuse then can claim under consumer rights act.

    Was it an expensive one?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

It was around £600 on offer , thankfully I have an old zanussi chest freezer , that is around 15 years old still going strong , I shall see if I can get a local repairer to look at it

I usually have my cover with them my tv, dryer, and washer are covered , but my husband passed away in February and was too busy dealing with that , than to remember to extend my warranty 🙄, not really bothered about loss of food on home insurance, not really worth it tbh as it was mainly vegetables ect, not really expensive to replace just don’t like a waste of food

Is the American fridge freezer built in between kitchen units
Common issue with American fridge freezers is that people fit kitchen units around them and they burn out after a few years because inadequate ventilation, even bigger issue during prolonged hot spell
If thats the case in this instance I'd check your appliance instructions with regards ventilation space requirements before complaining to retailer or manufacturer

No it’s freestanding in the kitchen and has adequate ventilation as the guys who delivered it fitted it and unwrapped it ect ,
I should have also made a bit clearer in my original post that the warranty was 12 months then an additional 2 years parts and labor, so it ran out in February looks like I’ll have to bite the bullet and try and find the money for a new one
