Have i bought a foreign nvidia shield?

Hi. i bought a nvidia shield recently and set to putting various apps on it. One of these was the All4 app for catching up on channel4 programs. It says that it's not available from the play store on my device yet when I search on my android phone in the play store it's listed there.
When I opened google to have a search on it, I found results saying you basically can't get All4 app from outside of the UK, which makes me wonder if I have some kind of foreign device. I bought it from amazon and the batteries came already in the remote which made me a little suspicious as they tend to be plastic wrapped when you buy a device. 
I'm hoping someone reading this has the shield too and can say whether they can get the All4 app on it via the play store or not. I imagine there's other ways but I'm just wanting to know if something is wrong with my device right at the start. thank you.

Apps will require certain features and options that are not available on tablet/non-versions of Android.  The most common one is "ability to make and receive phone calls" which doesn't do what it says on the tin, but provides access to contacts, calendar, etc.

But All4 is not supported on the shield in any country.
