  • If using for baking, I would be tempted to thin the double cream down with either milk or water first.  I've made scones with double cream before, and although they weren't lead bricks, they were definitely on the heavy side!

If you've got any blackcurrants they're delicious in a pastry case with sour cream mixed with eggs and sugar poured over them and then baked until set.

I would put your normal black bag bin outside on the night before bin day and add the cream just before sealing the bag. No need to waste newspaper etc.

Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)

I wouldnt use it. I'm not brave enough.

I'm not sure why you cant water down the cream, add washing up liquid and pour it down the loo?

I would just stick the carton in the recycling bin

    Pip,
You retired to France? Man, it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here!

I’d wrap it in newspaper and chuck it in a public bin.

Thanks all for your suggestions.  Sadly, this cream is too far gone to be used for cooking but, next time we have leftovers, I will keep your suggestions in mind.  It has black mould on it.

I will drain off the excess liquid and bin it in my own black bag, just before the bins are collected this week.

Not me, @milasavesmoney, although there are times that I am sorely tempted.  You must have confused me with someone else.  (I’m still a wage slave in West London.)

I didn't say put it in a public bin - just your own general waste.  I wouldn't dream of using a public bin for something like this.  Public bins are for disposing of things like sweet wrappers when you're out and about not your own general waste.

The poster immediately before your post where you said "another vote for wrap it in newspaper and bin it" did say to put it in a public bin.
Posters could have misconstrued what you meant about 'bin' and thought you were agreeing with disposal in a public bin.
