Is the method of converting the amount of gas you use from units to KWh the same with all companies? I can’t find it on my BG bill but got this calculation from the old PFP Energy bill. Unit x 2.83 x 38.6 x 1.02264000 divided by 3.6 = KWh.
Also I noticed on my latest BG bill that the first quarter they use the calorific value of 39.2. And the next quarter it is 38.8. Why are they different? And if I want to work out how much I have used since which figure should I use?

The bit that varies between customers is the 'x 2.83' as that tells me that you have an older Imperial gas meter which records use in Cubic Feet, rather than cubic metres. There are 2.83 cubic metres in 100 cubic feet, so that calculation converts your Imperial meter reading into Metric.
