ZINSSER 'AllCoat' exterior white - Satin or Gloss?

Aesthetically doesn't really matter, but just wondering if one finish has the edge when it comes to ease of application, or even durability?
Also notice that Zinsser have 8-year and 15-year versions - has one taken over?
Thanks.

The only version I've used is the matt so can't really help with your choice. The only versions on the official website have a 15 year lifespan, not sure where you're seeing 8 years, might be old stock?
Just be aware that the white isn't as opaque as you'd like so you will need multiple coats but the good news is it dries quite fast.1 -
Cheers. Yes, I suspect the 8-year is old stuff - mostly on eBay!Yes, I'm used to water-based paints not obliterating as well as oil.Thanks.0

I have used both satin (coloured) and gloss (white), and they are very similar in application, although the coloured pain covers better than the white, as you might expect. (The black satin is a joy to use on drainpipes!). The gloss finish is not up to oil based standards for smoothness, but is pretty good. I think it keeps cleaner than the satin, but have not compared finishes on the same surface.1

I would suggest emailing Zinsser with your application and see what they suggest. I have found them very responsive.1 -
