We are going to Rhodes. I haven’t been since I was a child so really looking forward to it.
    Whereabouts are you going?

  • I have used £500 from my emergency fund to make another overpayment on the mortgage, which gives me the warm and fuzzies! I love ticking off where I am up to on the payment schedule they sent me in my introductory pack. My balance now stands at £162,509.27, which takes me past where I ‘should’ be in November 2023.  At least that means my mortgage should be paid by the time I am 61 and 1/4 rather than 62. Whoop 🙌. Go me!

I paid another £450 off the solicitors bill from the side hustle so that leaves just under £350 to pay. Hoping to be there by the end of March and have that gone. I get stuck between being bloody minded and paying it slowly as they were so useless and not wanting it hanging over me.

I am loving the relaxation of half term with very little plans other than slobbing and trying to catch up a bit with my crochet.

The holiday savings have come to a bit of a standstill now I have the balance ready to pay as I have bought some of the extras. I still need to sort airport parking but I will leave that until
    next payday

  • Half term has been a slow week with the side hustle but trying to make the most of the extra time I have won back.

I got my letter from the mortgage company confirming the £500 overpayment I made earlier this week. I have my direct debit set at £1100 so I love watching the minimum payment come down. My new minimum payment is £855.84 so my standard monthly overpayments are £244.16. I feel really proud of that but am dreading the end of my fixed rate next year if the interest rates haven’t dropped :(

I feel a bit more caught up on my crochet but have a lot of sewing in ends to do, which I hate with a passion!

  • I have joined the save £2023 in 2023 and am a bit proud to be on £655.98 already.
I have just used some clubcard vouchers for RAC membership, which I hopefully won’t use!
I am plodding away with surveys but they pay a lot less than the side hustle!

I am working away with my airtime rewards and am hoping to have enough to pay for the 4 of us to have data roaming for August when we go on holiday.

I still feel all over the place with my savings plan. I have opened a digital saver account putting in £100 a month with 6% interest so that makes sense in relation to my EF and holiday savings accounts which are only 0.65% interest. I think the digital saver I can only put £150 a month in so I think it is worth increasing to that maximum as the interest is higher than my mortgage fixed rate.
I also put £100 into premium bonds last month. I know that is unlikely to ever return anything but I like that there is a chance and I would like to be able to add to that. Last night I bought £25 for each of my three kids so hopefully I can help them with some landmark purchases when they reach adulthood.

my side hustle cancelled today, which was good as I don’t feel very well but slightly gutting as that would have been the last little payment I need to finish paying the solicitors bill. However, tomorrow is a new day and a new hustle so I should be able to send that payment over on Tuesday.

Both my twins are desperate for braces and neither qualify under the NHS, which is really gutting. The ex will not contribute so I feel stuck between trying to save for them and feeling like it is just way too much money to pay twice over.

I am stuck between using the side hustle post-solicitors payment to save for braces or investing £175 chunks in premium bonds with £100 to mine and £25 each to the kids each time.
I think I need the holiday paid and the fund to be less substantial so it feels a little clearer where I am going with various savings and rates. Premium bonds seem daft vs. The 6% digital saver account but significantly less so compared to my rubbish EF savings and holiday ISA, which are both the 0.65%.

I feel like my diary is not much a diary and much more a rambling of my indecision!
