A cheap funeral required

Hi all. I am in need of a really cheap funeral. I live on the Wirral in Merseyside. So any local help would be most helpful.
Thank you.

Perhaps you could give a bit more information to help. Who is the funeral for? Is there any money in their estate? Do you qualify for help towards the funeral costs? Have you looked at the possibility of a public health funeral? If you have looked at all these and still need a cheap local funeral arrangement then hopefully someone with local knowledge will come along.

you could you could opt for a simple cremation - where there is no one in attendance. Costs around £1000.

Just 'Google' Low Cost Funeral and you should get far more information than asking questions on a forum.
I'm a retired IFA who specialised for many years in Inheritance Tax, Wills and Trusts. I cannot offer advice now, but my comments here and on Legal Beagles as Sam101 are just meant to be helpful. Do ask questions from the Members who are here to help.

The local council will provide a ‘public health funeral’ if there is no next of kin or if next of kin can’t provide one or decline to do so. https://www.yourfuneralchoice.com/what-is-a-public-health-act-funeral/

A ‘funeral expenses payment’ may be available where the family member taking responsibility for the funeral is on certain benefits https://www.gov.uk/funeral-payments

As mentioned above, a ‘simple cremation’ is low cost. You could then organise a memorial or ash scattering ceremony if you wanted to, doing it in whatever way and at whatever cost (or none) you wanted.

Direct Funeral where it is choice of Funneral Director liasing with crematorium is my choice, if you do not have a reason to hold conventional funneral.

However when husband died I held a conventional one at local crem  -  because I knew would be lotsattending whhich was case.  For me, no!  So instructed sons to go for minimal i.e. Direct.

Unattended cremations are around £1,000 from memory and they available from local funeral directors as well as the national specialist companes.

Can you be buried at sea?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I believe there is also a 'funeral compare'. However, the cheapest funeral would  be straight cremation. Also, do look into whether you can get government help with funeral expenses.

You can, but it won't necessarily be cheap. Google tells me there's an extra certificate you need confirming that the body is free of infection, but then you have to organise the actual burial. Pretty sure you can't just head off into the sunset and drop your loved one over the side ...
