Are the current Octopus Go rates any good?

Just spoke to Octo on the blower and they've given me the price for their Go tariff.
It doesn't seem too bad and, with the expected increase in October (which is frankly ludicrous),
I'm really wondering if I should be fixing on this.

Peak / daytime (04:30 to 00:30) is 40.04p.
Off-peak / night (00:30 to 04:30) is 7.50p.
Standing charge would be 47.88p.

As long as you have an EV ( a requirement to be on the tariff ) and can make good use of the cheaper over-night period then it is a decent deal.
Also consider 'Go Faster' if you need more hours and a different start time (say 5 hours from 21:20 for example @ 8.25p/kWh).
  • We used to be on Octo Go and did all our washing at night. Was 15p in the day and 5p at night.
We saved a bloody bomb  Our fixed term on Go ran out this July.

Overall Octo seem fairly reasonable with the pricing. They were the ones we went with because
they were the cheapest in our area, and the prices are still somewhat reasonable (despite the increase!).

The other one to check is 'Go Electric' with EDF, they have 3 versions, one of which may also suit your needs...
  • They say you need an electric car for Octo Go but my cousin is on it and they've never properly checked it so it's fine(?)

'Fine' is a bit on the hopeful side, but if they have been on it for a while they may be able to stay on it without getting caught.
  • What would they do if they found out tho? Part of me wonders if they're going to start asking for driving docs. to make sure? Then the trick won't work. Thing is this is a really good cheap deal.

They reserve the right to move you to a different tariff, as per the T&C's...

It looks like EDF have pulled the plug on GoElectric tariffs for the time being, citing energy market volatility.

That must have been recent, don't think it was there when looked earlier...

One less option for EV drivers sadly.
