A 30 day cancellation notice period for a rolling contract is *very* common - I think pretty much all the contracts I have include it.

Continuing to take un-owed monies after the cancellation is a different matter - cross that bridge if/when you come to it (but maybe be prepared - forewarned is forearmed)
This isn't a simple 30 day cancellation notice.  They require a minimum of a calendar month notice, with membership ending on the last day of the month.  There is no suggestion of them taking money they are not entitled to.

There is, but only based on OP's (potential mis-)understanding of anecdotal reports, hence a couple of us clarifying that such behaviour would be a different matter from the gym simply exercising their contractual rights:

I’m seeing numerous reviews on trust pilot of 1 star for this very reason and for excess charges even months after they cancelled their membership.

Other than the slight variation in the length of months, what's the difference?  Membership ends at the end of the month because it's bought in calendar month blocks.
