Amazon one time delivery password

I have ordered an item costing just under £100 avd received an email from amazon informing me that they were going to send me a onetime password to tell the driver today but nothing has arrived
Should I contact amazon to ask why?

Can you not go to your orders and track the item?

What is the point of the password?  Have they been getting too many claims about parcels not being delivered/left outside/delivered to the wrong person?

Ordered an Apple product via Amazon last week. Had the notification of a one time pass code required. Received email with passcode later. Courier delivers and asks for the pass code before handing over the package. Showed them the code which the courier put into their handheld device thingy .... all done, no problem.

Tracking is there yes but not the code needed - yet
Evidently it comes by email just before the delivery takes place

I had this recently,  the passcode, (6 numbers?), was not e-mailed until the item was out for delivery.
