hand held john lewis fan battery

Hi 
I have the above but it works when i use USB lead with light flashing but not when i take USB lead out 
why?

Is it possible that it is a USB fan and not a battery fan? Is it this one
If it is a battery fan then is there a battery in it?
If it is a battery fan and there is a battery in it, does it have an anti drain tab that has to be removed?

It says rechargeable battery but doesn't mention type, so maybe it's a normal one that can be replaced easily. Can you get into the battery?
