We only laid the patio last weekend so haven't bolted it down yet, or put the sides on. But already it has been great for shade and shelter when it rains. In heavy rain/wind you're supposed to open the louvred roof0 -
Yes, it just drains onto the patio, each leg has a hole in the bottom. We put a slightly bigger fall in the patio so rain shouldn't puddle, hopefully! We actually put the sides on and some bolts in today:

I think you might mean a pergola rather than a gazebo if you’re wanting something permanent bolted down. I had the same issue with the back of my house getting way too hot and I also looked at awnings but found them pricey. I ended up going for a pergola instead and it’s been great- solid, gives proper shade and looks good too. Mine’s from Instashade and I’ve been really happy with it so far.
