Is this your 'fuse box' (consumer unit)?Do you know which circuit your shower is on?Have any of the little switches gone down?If in doubt, turn off ALL the circuits/power using the Main Switching Device. Then you can unscrew/open the switch in the bathroom where the pull cord is. You'llprobably have to buy a new pull cord switch.Or is there a fuse in between the pull cord and the main fuse box/consumer unit? Often there's a fuse outside the bathroom.Might look like a plug socket but without the 3 holes for a plug!

Please ignore this advice, it is very unsafe if you dont know what you are doing or have the correct equipment and tools to work safely with electricscanaldumidi said:Is this your 'fuse box' (consumer unit)?Do you know which circuit your shower is on?Have any of the little switches gone down?If in doubt, turn off ALL the circuits/power using the Main Switching Device. Then you can unscrew/open the switch in the bathroom where the pull cord is. Is your "fuse board" like this one? If so you will have to remove the fuse from the carrier pictured and test it to see if it has blown. If you are unsure then get a competent electrician round to look for you.

If it looks anything like that then absolutely do NOT replace any fuses in it as it is an immediate fire (and shock) hazard.

If the fuse box doesn’t have pull up and down switches, it really ought to be replaced fairly soon anyway. It is possible to check the fuses in your box, but this is a little bit harder to do safely. You need to turn off the main switch then pull out the fuse. Then you would need to check whether it has blown.truewraith121 said:hi all, sorry to sound newbie but i dont like messing with electrics at all if i can help it so i thought i would ask for some help if anyone can spare a few mins please! my shower stopped working last night and the red light on the pull switch is totally out and the fuse box isn't the pull up and down type switches in the house we now moved to so not sure how to check a fuse safely?the box is called mem memera 2000.any help would be amazing, thanksI wonder whether you would be best off calling out an electrician? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
