We didn't love this house when we bought it. 3 year since we moved in,I'm not sure we love it now, but what suited us most was the location. We're currently surrounded by muck and bullets as the builders are in, hopefully making it a bit more ours. It will still never compare with our previous home, but that was in what became the wrong location for us, so we had to make a move. Can't wait for the builders to finish, the bills to stop coming, and the opportunity to live in a house without so many compromises.

I didn't love our bungalow when we downsized in 2015. But I did love things about it - the location, the large garden, the pretty facade at the front, the large kitchen-diner. But I didn't get 'the feeling'.
However, I love it now and feel so blessed to have it.
I don't think you are ready to buy yet. But when you do, look for something that will suit your lifestyle and be practical about it. You may actually find one you love as well. But just don't reject one on the basis that you don't love it.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton1 -

I think it’s the lack of flexibility that worries me and the constraints of a 5-year fixed term. The neighbours to the property (terraced) are also a popular AirBnB so I’m imagining all manner of noises regularly. Or what if there’s a huge structural problem right after I move in… or I suddenly need to move for a job etc etc
Natural concerns I guess when I’ve rented for so long and moved approximately once a year but I appreciate the above will always be concerns and I just need to take the plunge if I want to actually own a property.
That would put me right off I think.1 -

The house is currently an Airbnb.
You're in a perfect situation! Ask a friend to book into it as an AirBnB and live in it for a few days! Get a feel for what would annoy you, what you love, the neighbourhood, transport links in actuality rather than theory etc etc
I got the buyers jitters when I bought my property. The silliest was stressing over where I'd keep my towels cos there isn't an airing cupboard 😂
Now I realise how lucky I was to snap it up. I love my house!1 -
You might be there for the few days that it is quiet, then when you buy it they are block booked with stag nights, absolute nightmare then because no one will buy it.1

I know it doesn’t bother some people but willingly buying a place which is highly likely to have noisy neighbours regularly is not a risk I’m willing to take I don’t think. I value my sleep too much!

That`s it, you can`t really police 15 people having a smoke and a "chat" outside at 4am after the clubs close, and as they are only there for the night or the weekend they are not going to care about having to face neighbours or whatever. the next day. The good news is that if the recession that the media keep banging on about happens there will be less people using AirBnB and more AirBnB going back to private rental therefore increasing available rental supply.1
