Wifi signal booster

My current wifi signal reaches the kitchen and that is as far as it goes. Unfortunately, the wifi box location is right beside the front window and would need to be placed central to enable a signal outside.
without the need for a telephone engineer to come out and move it, what do i actually need to obtain a signal outdoors. I only have a sim only contract with 500mb data, that usually is used by the end of the first week.
