Energy price Cap unit rates per kWh for economy 7
Can anyone tell me what the price Cap is in real units I.e. kWh. All these figures of yearly spend are not that helpful as we are desperatly trying to reduce our usage, like many others at the momnent. After ages of searching i can't find the unit rates for economy 7 electric users. Our on peak rate seems very high at 37.785p a kWh. I know we get the off peak units a bit cheaper. But any saving is wiped out by paying so much more for the on peak units. I thought we were being encouraged to use energy at night to help the situation. It's barely worth the agrivation of making sure we only use stuff at night if we don't save anything.

I think it varies by area or supplier - which area are you in and which supplier are you with?0

There are no unit rate predictions as the suppliers can set the split themselves.
Some will set it at 30:70, others at 60:40. So there will be no Ofgem announcements, you will only know once your supplier lets you know the new rates.
When you could still change suppliers easily this was less of a problem, you could just change to the supplier that would fit your usage profile best, now you are more or less stuck with a usage profile that does not fit your needs.0 -
We're Bedfordshire MK45. Scottish power. I just work it out with a 60/40% split. 60% economy 7, 40% day. We're £32 a year better off but we must use the cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, and as much other stuff chargers etc. at night. It barley seems worth it for all the inconvenience.0

As said above it's not really possible to get a hard and fast answer to this as there are lots of variables involved.
If it helps, I'm in East Anglia, currently with the dubious bunch known as Utility Warehouse, and paying :Unit rate 34.340p per kWh Economy 7 unit rate 17.648p per kWh Standing charge 36.237p per day
We have managed to get to 75-80% overnight usage and the balance on the peak rate without killing ourselves - we probably *could* cut it back a bit more yet too, but right now we don't need to make that level of economies.
The Green Energy UK "Sparkling" fix could be worth a look for you - lots of information around that on the board here right now, but do bear in mind there are "beware" considerations to know about too.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

The cap for E7 is set on the basis of 4200kWh split 52/48% between day/night, so the closer you are to that split and usage, the less it matters which supplier you are with as they will all be the same on their SVT at those figues.
