What_time_is_it said:If you see Liz Truss as even remotely left wing then I'd suggest that your political compass may well be upside down!
(also, that fat fella with the cigar during WW2 was fond of switching parties every so often)I hesitated before using the left-wing term myself, as it's such a broad brush term and false to attempt to pigeon-hole someone across their entire policies into red vs blue arguments. My angle in stating this is that she has suggested Keynesian policies of increasing borrowing to spend first, to hopefully create growth later, whereas Sunak is suggesting cutbacks/tax to save then tax cuts later. These are traditionally policies of left and right respectively, so she appears to be in the wrong party. But the lines are now very blurred - the tory party has become the Boris party, which doesn't seem to stand for anything other than Boris being king of the world. Meanwhile Labour are starting to look responsible in comparison, which is quite an achievement.Personally, I view having any allegiance to a party as being anti-democratic. If we were all floating voters and there were no safe seats they'd all have to work much harder to get a chance of serving the public. You're right about Churchill, but he did have the excuse that he was probably too drunk to know what he was doing.0
