I’ve got a 2017 Mazda 3. I went to Mazda and they retrospectively fitted Apple car play for me, from memory it was close to £300 but well worth it for me as I much prefer Google maps but don’t like having my phone on the dash.

I love the car, it’s been great. Just don’t do what I did and buy from a car supermarket because within a few days I found a few problems! Thankfully Mazda fitted 4 new fuel injectors for me and sorted the DPF even though it was a few days out of warranty when I purchased!
    Wow, great service!

Honestly, they were fantastic. I would have had to go to court to claim money back from the car supermarket had they not! I cannot fault Mazda at all

for future reference, Mazda's are probably the most reliable brand at the moment, but only the petrol ones.

their diesels are time bombs and you would be wise not to touch one with a barge pole. they are known to give up after a short while, very bad design. luckily they got rid of them.

I had one for 5 years, no issues at all.

Is it safe to buy from a private local garage, or would it be best to go Cinch/Arnold Clark etc ?
No-one on here is going to recommend you go to Arnold Clark - have a search ;)

The rest depends on your appetite for risk - given you're not in boy-racer/Uber territory it's probably one of the safe local dealer purchases but Main Dealer and the potential to negotiate extended Mazda warranty into the deal probably gives the best level of security
