Hi,you need to register with SP first then you can switch.Doubt if you can keep your great deal, and might have problem switching as a lot of suppliers not taking new customers just now.0
-
I think all eon customers are now eon next customers or soon to be.
Maybe this will help
I have found talking to eon next normally gets a better result. Recent examples are delaying our fix deal a month before it kicked in and IHD correct prices update.
Might be worth a call to see what they can do especially if you are a long-term customer.0 -
Note that when you become a Scottish Power customer you can (and probably should) do so on their standard variable tariff that is subject to the price cap. This tariff will be no more 'outrageous' than the capped tariffs of other suppliers and they're all pretty much identical (assuming dual-fuel?).
All you can do regarding keeping your current tariff longer term is to check your terms and conditions and to ask e-on. You probably won't be able to transfer it but I'd check. If you are allowed to transfer the process would still be one of initially being with Scottish Power (and so giving them an opening reading when you move in) and then subsequently switching to e-on.0 -
You MUST register an account with SP before you do anything else.
As above, make sure they put you on the Standard Variable tariff which has no exit fees, do not be persuaded to take a fix.2 -
Moving to new property - first timer - Scottish Power have told me today that they don't offer SVT.

The flexi tariffs at least one should be the SVT, as far as I am aware all suppliers have to have a SVTScot_Rob said:Moving to new property - first timer - Scottish Power have told me today that they don't offer SVT.

If SP currently supply the property then the moment you move in you will be one of their customers - so that's that problem solved!Scot_Rob said:Moving to new property - first timer - Scottish Power have told me today that they don't offer SVT.

They have to offer SVT. If they are the supplier for the property then just tell them your meter reading and that you want to be on the capped tariff. They don't have to make it easy, I found with SSE their website only allows you to select a fixed rate and you need to phone to get the SVT but the website doesn't make that clear.Scot_Rob said:Moving to new property - first timer - Scottish Power have told me today that they don't offer SVT.

If they refuse they make sure you take a reading (and preferably a photo of it) and just wait for them to send the bill to the householder.
The capped tariff is the same at all suppliers so there is no need to change. Just don't accept the fixed tariff if it's offered. As above website might not give that choice so either call or wait for them to contact you but take a reading.mindylottyfife said:We are moving home, currently on a great deal with EON, but only scottish power supply our new house (with outrageous tariffs). Some pretty disgusting behaviour by Scottish Power by the sounds of this and other threads.I'd be on the phone or email to Ofgem if they tried this sort of sharp practice on me.1

This is true for people trying to switch suppliers but NOT for moving into a property where SP are already the supplier. SP have no choice. Do not agree to a fixed tariff and you have to be on the default tariff which is the capped standard variable one.Scot_Rob said:Moving to new property - first timer - Scottish Power have told me today that they don't offer SVT.
