Anyone work in the aviation industry and have any idea on the near future RE cancellations?

Hi guys. I've had 4/8 flights cancelled this summer (three last-minute ones by EasyJet scumbags and one the week before my most recent BA flight) so am trying to weigh up my next trips in late August and mid-September.

I plan to avoid EasyJet like the plague but am not exactly sure if I should do the same with Gatwick etc etc.

Things appear to be better in the past few weeks but I was hoping someone on this thread knew about changes in the industry and what the likelihood of improvement is. Will demand peak by September? Are airport caps working? Are airlines managing to get staff in? You get the drift.

I'm not hugely fussed about cancellations if I get enough notice but the last-minute ones were pretty ruinous mentally and cost me about £2000 that I am yet to get back - so those are the ones I want to avoid the most.

Avoid the two airlines you've chosen for any future plans. As you've found out they are the worst of the bunch.

Plan on Ryanair or Jet2 for your best chances.

Airport caps seem to be a problem quite unique to London and Manchester. The regional airports haven't had to resort to them.

Generally it is getting better the further into summer we get. Both because of staffing getting better at airports but also by this point even the worst of airlines should only be offering a schedule they have a chance of delivering.

With all that said even if your airport and airline arenfully prepared there could always be another external factor (overseas airports, ATC, weather etc)
  • Excuse my ignorance - but what does RE stand for ?

Not sure why capitalised but I assume Re: as an abbreviation of “regarding” or “referencing”

You should direct your anger at the governments who caused the problem rather than the airports/airline who were the mere victims of over zealous restrictions on their trade.

Thanks - that did cross my mind, however, as you say, the capitals threw me.
