If you have to stick with Curry's then the best bet in the price range would be the Philips 65pus880712 which would be an upgrade to your Sony at £1099. Essentially the same panel (they typically all use the LG panels but a better processor and HDR10+ support)

If you do want a Sony then check they didn't just typo the size and it should be the 65X85 which would be a close equivalent.0 -
here.. my old one is on the left, the suggested replacement is on the right. The replacement is a lot lower spec.

The original is 9 series, the replacement is 8 series. There's quite a difference. Couple that with a 10" drop in size and theres no way its comparable.
Anyway, that aside, i'm not really focusing on the differences.. more interested in what my options are in replying to them.1 -
You can point out yours is a 65" and see what they offer and decide if you want to accept. It may just be a simple mistake.
Other than that you need to ask them, they could offer a credit to the value (taking off a value for 18 months use and excess (unless they do that separately), they could offer a cash refund equivalent (not sure they have to but as its a contents policy it may be more likely they would than a store claim). That is about the limit of what they have to do from the extract of your policy you posted. You don't have a new for old policy from what I could see.
They may offer you the ability to add money and they will order you something else, but equally just tell you to take the voucher to a store and pay the difference.0 -
I mailed them back pointing out that a Samsung 65QN95 is the only equivalent at currys, and he responded saying he'd made a mistake and have agreed the Samsung.. so i think i'll go with that.2

Currys have what i would class as the current equivalent but from a different manufacturer at £1299.
As your policy notes, if they can get an equivalent one cheaper then the cost of their equivalent is all they will give you. So your case here really hinges on convincing them that the one they suggested isn't equivalent.
It seems fairly straightforward if they offered a smaller model. Same size is a very simple thing to understand. So that should be your starting point, tell them that it's not the same size as your old one and while you are at it list the other things that an equivalent model would have.0 -

I'm a council tenant and pay contents insurance with my rent. It costs 98p per week and has done for the last 15 years(!) I've had three claims in that time, all paid out in full and all with no excess. Last month I clumsily damaged our TV, which we'd had for 17 months. So I sent in a claim, they corresponded solely online and asked for photos and even a video with narrative. I was a bit annoyed at the latter - what a faff! - but my daughter said she'd love to do a little vid. So I sent all the info and evidence by email. The replacement TV I found at Richer Sounds was a different make and was £40 more than the original one but even so my claim was accepted, paid out and all done within one week.
The new one is a better TV, although I was quite happy with the one I broke. Until I broke it.
It's an Aviva policy and I have no complaints at all. Highly recommended. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
