The person concerned (my Dad) is keen to stick to EDF because they were "good" to him when another supplier went bust and he had a large credit balance.
I know it's not MSE but I think he's going to be pretty stubborn on this (and other things).
Being old and not having internet (and sometimes 3 hospital appointments a week) he won't want to be switching all the time.
The loyalty thing is not MSE.
I do my best to give him good "advice" but have to accept he's entitled to make his own decisions.

Luckily he'll get quite a lot of help being a disabled pensioner.

Fair enough, one of our Nan's will not move from British Gas. I think she believes it's where the Queen gets her energy and who can argue with that at her age of 92♥️

They weren't "good" to him, it's how the system is meant to work.
Personally, I find EDF frustrating - I give monthly readings, why can't I get monthly bills (without going to Variable DD) rather than every 6 months?

Absolutely - that's why I put it in quotes (because I get it) - but thanks for making the point.
However he is compos mentis and allowed to make his own decisions.
I wouldn't want to tar all old people with the same brush but he can be stubborn.
I do understand why elderly people (who sometimes have plenty of other things to worry about - like hospital etc.) do not want to be switching all the time (by paper) or dealing with insolvencies. He's also hard of hearing and has no internet.
Many younger people on here found the whole experience of companies going bust very stressful despite the fact that they were covered.
