Deeper search apparently whateverthay means, an unassociated address to mine. When I brought it up to experian they had said that is the issue as on the face of it I have no issues. Credit rating and not on my report as not an address I lived at.0

I'm not sure that it is good advice for you to add another address that you have never lived at, into your credit record, so that you can see accounts that have been wrongly ascribed to you.(!)Colly109 said:So went for mortgage my credit score 974 and credit report clean, but this came up deeper investigation when going for a mortgage. So cross, experian have told me to add that address into my profile so I can pull across details and raise fraud. So angry that some company has plucked my name and assigned debt to me inaccurately
The fundamental principle is that records should be accurate,
I'd suggest getting as full records as you can from all three agencies, probably statutory reports, and complaining about any item of information that is not 100% accurate.
Score is irrelevant
It could be that the mortgage lender has gone into their own records and found something, but unless they will be open with you, you may never know.
Remember if anyone refuses to change incorrect information then you can ask the Information Commissioner Office to rule on it.4 -
Funny you say that I got an email from experian fraud team saying they were looking into it now and under no circumstances add address in thay I never resided in. Thank you for that advice1

There's someone with a similar name to my husband who had debt issues and went bankrupt. This other guy isn't someone we know but we were asked to say that Mr Katsu wasn't that guy, never lived in this other place and it was not our debt.
We didn't do anything like adding this other address to our credit records. I really wouldn't do that.
As its someone of a similar name and age it came up a few times, we might have needed to confirm or even show that we had proof we lived elsewhere but that was well over 20 years ago.
We got our mortgage done without ever adding that guy's details.
I hope that's some reassurance. Good luck with getting it sorted.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.1 -
Thanks, Experian are now investigating it and had came back to say not to add address, thankfully I didn't do that. Hoping will get sorted soon, scary to think a debt company can tie someone's debt to you without any prove cause havoc and then they go about their own business.0

Credit reference agencies only process information passed to them by the creditors.
You will need to dispute this matter with Lantern, as they are the ones processing this information, they are the only ones who can set the record straight, so you should write to them disputing liability for the debt, and telling them you are not the debtor they are looking for.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I called Lantern Debt today, wanted to take me through security providing my mobile number and dob. Humourus having security questions for a company you have never had an account or dealings with.
Explained I won't be providing my date of birth or mobile number to a company that has assigned debt to my name from two companies I have never heard of.
I asked them to explain how they process their information how do they identify debt, I can't disclose this to you as you haven't responded to the security questions.
He did eventually say we will remove the details held for me, whether they do, I highly doubt.

I'd just tell them that they'll have to see you in court - and that they'll lose as the debt isn't yours.Leap Day 2024 - the day of freedom. The day my pernicious debts finally died.

Good call not to give them any further information - not least as they may well not have had that info to "check for security" anyway!Colly109 said:I called Lantern Debt today, wanted to take me through security providing my mobile number and dob. Others may disagree, but I'd suggest backing up the call, and the fact that they have said they will remove your details, in a letter sent hard copy in the post. If you do, make sure that it gives them no further information that they don't already hold about you though, and where you would usually sign, type your name and "Digitally signed" instead. @sourcrates & @fatbelly are our resident experts in this area though so I'd await their feedback on this approach before doing anything.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
